Excellent for direct care RN's

As a direct care RN who also functions as a charge nurse I frequently spend a lot of time staffing the next shift or the next day’s shifts. I found this book to be a thorough review of all that is needed to staff a unit. Each chapter provides real life examples, tips and a thought provoking “consider this” section. There is a key points summary at the end of each chapter. I particularly enjoyed Dr Mensik’s discussion of how care delivery models and orientation affect staff and can make a difference in a unit’s function. When reading the book I was delighted to see how many of the best practices are being done on my unit but was also able to see ways that we might improve. I would highly recommend this book to any direct care RN who serves on a staffing committee or self-governance committee that reviews staffing, or anyone interested in learning more about staffing.

I love the concept of succubi and have never read a ...

Georgina is a succubus, a creature that feasts on other people's life energy. She coexists peacefully with vampires, demons, and angels, until a vampire is murdered and they all have to start fearing for their own lives.

What intrigued me: I love the concept of succubi and have never read a novel about them before.

Wait... why is everyone so nice?

The first 100 pages read like the beginning of every fan fiction ever, describing mundane things like going to work, getting dressed, having someone show up at her house. It's just boring. What even makes it worse is that all supernatural beings coexist peacefully - nobody is trying to murder each other.

Especially with a book with a premise that has such potential, I demand action right away, I wanted this to be a page-turner, to be a little sexy and also full of great world building, exactly in the vein of Mead's VAMPIRE ACADEMY books.

But SUCCUBUS BLUES doesn't have any of that. What is Mead's strength and also very omnipresent in this one are the amazing characters. She does her very best to always make her main characters multidimensional and I love that. But because you can tell so much work went into Seth and Georgina, the rest of the cast is just plain boring. There are so many side characters and (oddly enough only male) paranormal beings running around that I couldn't keep up. Angels, vampires, demons, you have it all in this one, but I would have loved more world building. Like this, we have absolutely zero world building, there is not a single unique spin on the stories we've all heard a million times before.

Predictable!

Because you have all these immortal beings who can't be harmed in the first place, it's hard to fear for their life when they are threatened by a vampire hunter. I felt like everything was under control at all times and all the "plot twists" that Mead inserts at the end of each chapter are just too predictable. I feel like you could always tell what was going to happen next and how it would all get resolved.

Exactly for this reason I wasn't invested, I didn't care about the stories, and I would have needed way more stakes and more world building to be just as fascinated with this as I was with Mead's VAMPIRE ACADEMY series. The inciting incident and main storyline, the murder of a vampire, is just not enough to warrant a 400+-page-long novel.

It's not worth it. It doesn't live up to my expectations when I am purposely picking up a succubus novel and the pacing is just not for me. I didn't care about the characters and their fate.

In reading the narrative poem The Walrus and the Carpenter, one sees these two characters walking on the ocean’s beach when they sight four oysters and cordially invite them to come ashore. Other oysters from the bed follow along. In doing so the oysters find that both the walrus and the carpenter are predatory creatures and the fate of their curiosity is sealed as they are devoured by these two odd individuals.

This poem can be seen in an excerpt in Alice in Wonderland, which is depicted in Disney’s 1951 animated movie. What makes the poem so interesting as it depicts a very human frailty in showing deceitfulness. In fact it’s a wonderful depiction of a modern day politician on showing concern and empathy towards people but in reality is seeking his or her own personal agenda!

I asked the Mashiah, when He will come? He answered me, by this shall you know. At the time when your teachings are famous, and revealed throughout the world, and what I have taught you, and what you have perceived has gone forth; when the masses are also able to recite yihudim (meditative prayers for spiritual unifications) and rise above, as you do, then shall the klipot (the powers of evil) be nullified. Then shall it be a good time for salvation."

fun for every age developing a new talent

This whole series is really fun. The instructions are easy to follow and my grandkids LOVE their artwork drawn around these drawings. I'll draw anything from this collection, and the 5- yr- old will draw the rest of the room or building. My twenty month old granddaughter enjoys coloring the picture drawn large. A battle we can relate to: Love. Everyone just wants to be love and be able to love back. Lexi finally is loved and she loves him too. But is torn and it might be too late for her to find out what love is to her. We might not know anything until we are scarred. A great book looking into one girl's reality of life and love.

This book will make you mad at times, cry at times and yell 'No" at the end of the book because this is the first book in a series. Once you read this emotional story you won't know which guy to root for! Waiting for March 23 for the second book! What a cliffhanger!

This by far is my favorite story of Helen's. It has everything friendship, loss, heartache, love. It has it all. It also has a bunch of laughs. Bryce is hilarious!! The FSoG in the library, priceless and one of my favorite parts! He also has some secrets I want to know about!!! Good Lord and then Anna!! I am soo angry at Anna and Bryce! Like seriously!!!! I can't see that going well. And the ending!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Total cliffhanger! Cannot wait until the second book comes out, must read series all! Best yet!
