I loved that there was more that one paranormal being in the story! Vampires, Lycans, Demons oh my! Ariana's character is truly someone you can connect with because she is that shining light of a girl in a world of hard night humans.

While I never intended to write more than just this trilogy, it has been so much fun that I continue to write in the same paranormal world. This is the first book in the night human world. Arianna's journey includes The Legend of the Blue Eyes, Becoming a Legend, and Winning the Legend. The stories in the night human world continue in Devin's tales: The Day Human Prince, The Day Human King, and The Day Human Way. More stories in the night human world will be released in 2016 in a new trilogy.

Why so Many 5-Star Reviews?

Uhg... This book. I had to stop at 24% I was having so much trouble reading it. The 5 star reviews for this are completely suspect to me now.
Good:
Great premise!
Interesting backstory setup for the main character.
Bad:
Everything else. No, seriously.
The writing in this book is so repetitive, it will drive you mad. Here's a small example: "Ariana felt light headed. Her day had been filled, non-stop, with new sights, sounds, tastes, and ideas. Now, Gabriel was adding in one more piece of the puzzle. Adrianna felt strained from trying to understand everything." Then 3 sentences later: "In the past 24 hours, her life had changed by leaps and bounds, not the baby steps she was used to." You get 2 "how she felt"s and 2 "overwhelmed" descriptions within the same EXTREMELY long and drawn out paragraph. A few pages later, you get another internal musing of "her life had changed dramatically in just a short 24 hours." That doesn't stop either, there are more.
There is no time taken to describe half of the things that are happening. She's in one room, then suddenly in the bath, then suddenly drying off and in bed. Not a single description of how she got from place to place, just her thinking things she's already thought followed by confusion. Example: she's in the bathtub thinking, and then this sentence happens. "After rinsing off the soup and putting on her pajamas, Arianna tried to go to sleep in the king-sized, four-post bed..." The same thing happened to get her in the room and in the tub a few pages earlier.
At one point a character said that he would have "protected her with every hair on his body", referencing her abandonment. Every hair? Did the author mean to write something similar to "with every fiber of his being"?
SPOILERS:
The characters seem completely ridiculous. Her grandfather, whom she hadn't even met yet, beheads a girl who looks identical to her, right in front of her. Later, he's talking to someone and says "She seems a bit stressed tonight." Really? A bit stressed?
The reason for the beheading is that some group was trying to switch their own operative(who looks identical to Adrianna through "multiple surgeries," all before 16) with the new heir. They have this intricate plan that's been in motion for over a decade, but they don't think about the vampires and their apparently obvious ability to smell the difference in her blood? Idiocy.
The list can go on, but these are common, reoccurring problems I had in the first quarter of the book. I hope this review makes it somewhere so others see it, so they don't lose their dollar like I did.

Put your preconceived vampire notions away!

Put away all your preconceived notions about Vampires. This novel will blow you away, and just may invite you back into your previous love of the supernatural. [If you've left it, of course] I'm the type that puts certain genre books on the `back burner' at times, because I get sick of the same repetition with different characters and different authors. Then there is that ONE novel that comes along and just sucks you right back into it all again. THIS is that novel. So, I'd like to give a huge thank you to B. Kristin, for reminding me why I love the paranormal world.
B. Kristin McMichael. I have four words just for you. I stinkin' love you. You blew me away with your first novel, To Stand Beside Her. I couldn't imagine that your next novel, of which is a completely different genre could be so amazing. [Ok, Yes I did] The Legend of the Blue Eyes was phenomenal. I'm always nervous when I go into a "vampire" novel, but I loved your last book so much I HAD to give this one a try. Once again, you've broken the writing mold, this time in the supernatural realm.
I was completely in a trance, from the beginning to the end. . Everything about this book is so VIVID. The imagery was simply brilliant and the characters were just perfect. Arianna, makes you fall in love with her right away. She's just adorable, while feeling everything that is happening to her as if you are the one writing the story. As most books go, there's usually a love interest. In this novel.. there is 2. However, it's not the everyday run of the mill love triangle. Oh no, no, no. Devin [He's mine, BACK OFF!] is astonishing. Devin is thoughtful, deep, stern and a damn sexy protector! Yes... I may go crazy with my book boyfriends sometimes, but this boy just pulls on all the right strings to your heart. Then there's Turner, I want to call dibs on him too, but I'll be fair.
Ok I'll admit, I went into this knowing it was a trilogy and knowing that there is going to be more to this story makes me ecstatic. Everything about this novel is pure genius, from the different types of Night Humans [Vampires, Werewolves, etc.], to the feuds between them, and the general flow of events.
The Legend of the Blue Eyes is overall a fantastic read with a new spin on the world of the Night Humans. The story feels natural, not forced, and I think that this series will really develop into something great. I can't wait to see what happens in the future for Arianna, and especially my Devin
