Interesting explanation of the "problem" with the Genesis account

Many believers don't necessarily believe the creation account in Genesis because it seems to contradict Science, and since the world persecutes anyone who defends any part of the Bible, why take the heat over this? Aren't there more important texts to defend? The "problem" with Genesis is that it suggests everything was created in six literal days, that light exists before the stars, and that creatures seem to have been created in the wrong order. What does one make of it?
I heard a sermon several years ago that cracked open the "problem" of Genesis for me. The key to unlocking the mystery of the creation story is understanding that it was written from the perspective of a human being, relating a dream or vision given to them by God. And that person appears to have been shown creation from the perspective of where they were standing at the time they received the vision.
What intrigued me enough to buy this book was the fact that the author hints at that very scenario. And now that I've read about half of the book, I can report that that's exactly what the author explains. The "witness" of creation seems to have been "standing" inside or near the borders of the land promised to Abraham, and everything he sees is told from that perspective.
Time is compressed in the vision so that a Billion years can seem like a day. The story begins with the fact that God created the universe out of nothing. There is initially darkness when there should be light because the observer is inside of the debris cloud that is forming into the Earth, and the creatures appear in the order in which the witness observes them from where he's standing on the planet. First land is below his feet and he sees plants, then a shallow sea and he sees sea-going dinosaurs and all sorts of other sea creatures, then the land rises again as the African plate smashes into the Asian plate, and he sees land creatures, but by this time the dinosaurs are extinct. And finally he witnesses the appearance of humans.
These events coincide with modern scientific understanding of the cosmos, the Earth and life. The universe hasn't existed forever. The Earth was initially a shapeless void. The land, atmosphere and oceans did separate. And a person witnessing events from Israel could have seen creatures appear in the order specified.
Anyway, the book is interesting, and it's worth a read, especially if you're intrigued, as I have been, by the mystery of the Genesis creation account. The mystery has been unlocked to my satisfaction, and my thanks to the authors for adding to my understanding.
